Age verification at Hatch

A Manchester trial brought age verification and payment together.

FinGo announced a trial at Hatch, the food, drink and retail venue on Oxford Road in Manchester. The trial formed part of the Home Office Regulatory Sandbox, which gave retailers and technology providers a way to explore new approaches to age assurance.

Customers registered their identity document and payment details, then associated their finger with that account using a FinGo reader. At the till, scanning the finger enabled both payment and an age check.

The announcement described operation from Thursday to Saturday and a trial ending on 30 June 2022. It also referred to earlier FinGo use at Manchester venues including The Alchemist. This page records that 2022 announcement.
