Getting started

Create a My FinGo account

What details do I need to provide?

To sign up to FinGo and create an account we ask for your name, phone number and email address.

Straight after you create a My FinGo account you will be asked to verify your age using an identity document. This is so you can get the most out of FinGo and won’t need to carry ID when you go out (as long as it’s a venue that accepts FinGo). You can simply prove your age with a single scan of your finger.

We only ask for those personal details needed to give you a secure and efficient service. And we won’t share your details with a third party, ever.

Reviewing the T&Cs

You need to review the terms and conditions, as this is the agreement that sets the rules and guidelines you must agree to and follow in order to use FinGo.

Why am I asked to verify my email address?

When you create an account with us we ask you to provide some basic information about yourself, including your email address. We then need to make sure that this email address belongs to you and that you’re a real person and not a robot. Verifying your email address is the simplest and easiest way to do this.

Verify an identity document and prove your age

Verify your age with an identity document

Straight after you create a My FinGo account you will be asked to verify your age using an identity document. This is so you can get the most out of FinGo and won’t need to carry ID when you go out (as long as it’s a venue that accepts FinGo). You can simply prove your age with a single scan of your finger.

If you haven’t verified your age the next time you log in you will be prompted to complete this step.

What identity documents can I use?

You can verify your age with either a passport, driving licence or national ID card.

What about fake IDs?

Our system is designed to detect and reject fraudulent documentation. Checks are made on accuracy of format, evidence of Photoshop tampering, hologram authenticity and other anti-forgery measures – such as micro printing and blurriness.

Link your finger

How should I place my finger in the scanner?

For the best results, we recommend the following: 1. Make sure you use your index or middle finger as they are the steadiest. 2. Make sure you place your finger all the way inside the scanner and rest it on the cradle at the back. 3. Make sure your finger is not touching the glass.

Which finger should I use?

We recommend using your index or middle finger as they are the steadiest. TIP. To make it easier to remember what finger you registered: Use a finger from your right hand if you are right-handed, and from your left hand if you are left-handed.

Why won’t my finger scan?

If you are having problems, try the following. 1. Make sure you use your index or middle finger as they are the steadiest. 2. Make sure you place your finger all the way inside the scanner and rest it on the cradle at the back. 3. Make sure your finger is not touching the glass.  If you are still having problems, contact support@fingo.to

Can I remove my finger VeinID?

Log in to MyFingo, then go to your Profile and tap on the ‘Remove all linked fingers’ button.

Remember, you will need to link your finger again if you want to prove your age with just your finger.

Can I link more than one finger to my account?

Currently, you can only link one finger to your account. However, you can link multiple payment cards to that finger.

What if I forget which finger I linked?

Then link your finger again by tapping on the Link another finger button.

Generate a verification code

Why do I need a verification code?

Once you have created an account and verified your age, you need to go to a FinGo venue to link your finger to your account. After linking your finger and taking a final face check, FinGo will ask for a verification code as a final security measure.

How do I generate a verification code?

Simply log in to My FinGo and press the Link Finger button in your Profile.

When do I generate a verification code?

Finger VeinID

Finger VeinID

What is the difference between fingerprint and finger vein biometrics?

Fingerprint patterns are on the outside of our fingers and finger vein patterns are on the inside. So using finger vein patterns is a much more secure way to identity yourself re because unlike fingerprints vein patterns are impossible to replicate and you can’t leave prints on glass, phones or other surfaces.

How does the finger scanning process work?

Our finger scanner scans your finger vein pattern using a harmless infrared light. The scanned pattern is then converted into an individual ‘digital ID’ key and stored securely in the cloud. The verification code you generate links your finger vein pattern to your account so we know you are you, and you are all set to prove you age or pay with just your finger.

What do you do with my finger VeinID?

We store an encoded representation of your scanned finger vein pattern and never the scan itself. We create a ‘Finger Vein Template’ which is an encoded representation of your scanned finger vein. It is then encrypted and wrapped in a way that only our cloud-based system can perform a match. Your vein pattern is never stored anywhere.

Can I restore my finger VeinID after removing it?

Once you tap the Remove all linked fingers button we erase your finger vein pattern from our database. You will need to link your finger again to continue using FinGo.

Can I add more than one finger to my account?

Currently, you can only link one finger to your account. However, you can link multiple payment cards to that finger.

Does FinGo work in the real world with dirty or wet hands and fingers?

Yes, you can even wear thin gloves or have a plaster on your finger and FinGo still works. But be mindful of your fellow FinGo users and try not to use the service if you have dirty hands!

Is FinGo GDPR compliant?

Yes, we are. FinGo ask permission to process our customers’ data and only collect the information we need to maintain an efficient service. Our customers can delete their account, however we do need to maintain some data that is excluded by GDPR such as financial transactions.

How is my personal data stored?

While we hold such information, your data is encrypted, tokenised and stored safely in our internal data vault. We also separate each aspect of your data so there is no single place where data can be compromised.

General

How secure is FinGo?

Biometric data is not stored anywhere. A finger vein template is created which is an encoded representation of the scanned finger vein which cannot be reversed back to the original scan. We then encrypt and encapsulate this template in a way that our cloud-based system can perform a match. This means your biometric is protected and impossible to copy and fraudulently use.

FinGo is ideal for high security authentication, identification and payments. Finger vein patterns are an internal biometric and as such are virtually impossible to steal or copy without the owner’s consent, unlike other forms of biometrics such as fingerprints, palmprints or retinal scans.

Why is finger VeinID more secure than fingerprint biometrics?

With fingerprint biometrics there is a high level of false positives, e.g. dirty/wet fingers, high level of errors.  They are relatively easy to copy (fingerprint lifting isn’t complicated), and fingerprints begin to erode and change with age.

What if my FinGo account is hacked?

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, so a hack is highly unlikely. However, if any unauthorised access is detected we will inform the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within 72 hours detailing exactly what data has been compromised. We would also get in touch with our customers straight away to let them know what has happened and any potential impact.
